Dear Parents and Guardians:
I would like to thank you for your support at the annual town meeting. Many of you came and supported the town budget and took advantage of the WES fun night to be able to come and participate in the town meeting. I know it was hard to stay until almost 10:00 p.m. to hear the presentation on the school budget and related articles, but I appreciate your time and stamina. I also want to thank the staff that organized the fun night for the children.
Although the town meeting was very positive, we still do not have more than a level funded budget (the same as we did last year). The rest of the articles require an override ballot vote which the selectmen have scheduled for June 19th – the last day of school. We hope you will participate in exercising your right to vote in June.
I will have my monthly Superintendent’s Coffee on Thursday, May 24th at 8:30 a.m. at the Westport Elementary School. This time period will allow you to drop off your child/ren and attend the Coffee. Come and joint us and hear about what is going on with the schools and ask questions.
The next School Committee Meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 9th. We are starting with a short executive meeting at 5:00 p.m. and the open meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. in the WHS Media Center. The next School Committee Meeting will be on Wednesday, May 23rd. at 5:00 p.m. in the WHS Media Center.
We hope to see you at one the meetings. Enjoy the spring and stay tuned.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carlos M. Colley
Superintendent of the Westport Community Schools
