Summer Reading and Learning

Here in Westport, we believe that learning never takes a vacation. This is why we offer summer school opportunities for unfinished learning and enrichment.  At the Elementary School, Camp Invention offers learners a game- and project-based approach to STEM education.  Our Start ‘Em Young program has enrichment offerings later in the summer.

At the Middle-High School, there are programs for students to participate in who have unfinished learning opportunities at all grade levels, and there are some opportunities for enrichment.

At the High School, students who are taking Advanced Placement courses next school year have been given assignments by their teachers.  Other teachers have offered their incoming students optional readings, should they be looking for some structure as they read for enjoyment this summer.

Because we feel that families are our partners in education, we know that many families will want to choose at home learning experiences for their school-aged children.  We have compiled some summer reading and learning choices here for you, in case you are looking for ideas!

As always, we feel that communication is key to your child’s success, so if you have any questions about summer reading or learning, please reach out to a building principal or the Director of Curriculum.
