rEAD for EAD

Former student, Michaella Lesieur brought her reading program to WES!
Having students read books they enjoy and celebrating their success in reading with a visit from WPRI Channel 12, Eyewitness News anchor Patrick Little! Students had an assembly learning about EAD (Eosinophil-Associated Disease).
Eosinophils are a type of white blood cells and they play an important part of our immune system. Eosinophils help us fight off certain types of infections, such as parasites. Many different problems can cause high numbers of eosinophils in the blood including allergies (food and environmental), certain infections (caused by parasites), eosinophil-associated gastrointestinal disorders, leukemia, and other problems.

Westport Fair Run for the Fair 5k & Fun Run T-shirt Design

If your child is interested in submitting a t-shirt design for the Westport Fair - Run for the Fair 5K and Fun Run, the contest form is attached to this link. Our 5th graders are completing drawings in their art classes. All other students will be given an opportunity to get the form at the office or in Art class, so they can draw something on their own.
Contest will end on JUNE 2, 2017

Congratulations to our Students!

Congratulations to our 6th grade students shown here who won 1st place in the Bridgewater State University's MARC Program Anti-Bullying Public Service Announcement contest. With the help of Mrs. Bacchiocchi, the students created a video "Social Media Family Feud Game" where they discussed not being Mean behind the Screen. These students will attend a Youth Summit on the college campus!

Where else can you go to have your Elementary Students introduced to the Symphony in terms they can not only grasp, but fully enjoy? A huge thank you to the Concerts on the Point group from Westport and coordinated by the Westport Music Boosters for having the New Bedford Symphony to our school to enlighten our students!

Students are learning to take care of Hermit Crabs AND learning about the election process!
Students were asked to submit 'crabby' names to Ms. Bell. See the new friends and the ballot for naming the pets at the attached link!
