Note, the following was released by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on Friday, Aug. 20: MALDEN – Education Commissioner Jeffrey C. Riley will ask the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to grant him authority to mandate masks for all public K-12 students, educators, and staff through October 1 to ensure schools fully reopen safely and to provide time for more students and educators to get vaccinated. WESTPORT — Interim Superintendent Thomas F. Aubin would like to provide members of the Westport Community Schools and the general public with an update regarding the district’s COVID-19 protocols and safety measures. WESTPORT — Interim Superintendent Thomas F. Aubin reports that the Westport Community Schools will remain open despite rising COVID-19 cases in the Town of Westport. On Thursday, Nov. 12, the Town of Westport posted a message on its homepage stating that effective Monday, Nov. 16, all Town buildings will be closed to the public except by appointment only. This is due to positive COVID-19 cases increasing in town over the past several weeks. This order does not include the Westport Community Schools. Gov. Baker Announced Extended Statewide Closure of Schools Until May 4 WESTPORT —  Westport Community Schools announces that, in accordance with an order from Governor Charlie Baker, Westport Public Schools will remain closed through the end of April as a precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic.
