Students will produce a full-length play as they learn advanced acting and stagecraft. The club will build their confidence as performers and prepare students for future opportunities as actors. The club meets as needed to prepare for the spring drama production.

A makerspace is “a place where students gather to create, tinker, invent, explore, and discover using a variety of tools and materials.” Makerspace Club provides the opportunity for students to be creative and inventive in a collaborative setting. Students use materials for hands-on activities, which include arts and crafts, paper circuits, Legos, K’nex, and LittleBits.

Gay Straight Alliance aims to be a place where people of all sexual orientations feel welcome to come and find support, be an ally, and offer resources for students who may be struggling to find connections or who care about inclusiveness versus divisiveness. We want to increase awareness around all oppressed peoples, do outreach, and have discussions about these issues.

The Westport Chapter of the National Honor Society shall create an enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote worthy leadership, and encourage the development of character. The selection of members to this chapter shall be by a majority vote of the Faculty Council after a formal interview. Candidates eligible for selection to the chapter shall have a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.6 out of a 5.0 scale and satisfactory citizenship grades after the first semester of their junior year. Candidates must have earned a minimum of 25 hours of community service with at least ten of those hours to be in the service of the school system prior to selection. Five of the ten Hours may be part of another school activity or club. Members meet bi-monthly to plan community service projects and to prepare for the annual induction ceremony.

Organizes and runs both the exchange of students from Okinawa to Westport High School as well as trips for high school students abroad to places like Costa Rica, Spain, Portugal, and China. This club brings a sense of the world to our small community here. Meetings are scheduled as needed with a majority of the commitment in March when our Japanese exchange students arrive. Students are provided with short-term opportunities to experience other cultures. Interested students are invited to host a Japanese exchange student for two to three weeks in late February/early March. Eligible students are also invited to travel abroad to Europe (the trip is offered every other year, pending student interest) during April vacation.

Students of this club learn about the various fields of medicine and the different career paths associated in those fields. The club also organizes fundraisers to raise proceeds for various medical conditions and helps to inform the community about medically related topics through informational meetings, posters, etc. Our club works alongside the American Red Cross to sponsor a local blood drive and we have members that volunteer at local hospitals as well. The overall goal of the club is to provide students with the opportunity to further explore the medical field and make a positive impact in the community.

The group performs at various sporting events including basketball games and volleyball matches. They have also done other outside performances at the Providence Bruins and town parades

The Robotics club is based on the US First theme "Gracious Professionalism" .  We use Vex Robotics and would like to attend a Vex Competition created by Dean Kamen (Segway inventor) at USFirst.org.  Have fun and learn to build robots!   You may also qualify for scholarships later.

STEEL is comprised of students from grades 11& 12 who applied and were interviewed to become a member. STEEL is a leadership organization in which students are role models and representatives for the Westport Middle High School. The expectation is that they will be involved with all school activities, assist at parent/teacher nights, orientations, as mentors, tutors, and volunteers for community events. They are the liaison for the student body with the community.

Students participate in the governance of the school. Class elections are held annually in late September. Class officers include the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, principal, and three representatives. Additional members of the student council may include:  two school committee reps, two school improvement council reps, two regional student advisory council reps, and one state student advisory council rep. who is appointed at the regional SAC meeting. These additional members are elected at-large by the entire student body. The club meets twice a month.
